Pushing 'The Culture' Forward: Award-Winning Books in the Diaspora

A PEOPLE'S CONGRATULATIONS to the following author's and illustrators who brought home the GOLD in the world of publishing! 

• The Coretta Scott King award for the best African-American Writer for  2012 went to author Andrea Davis and illustrator Andrea Davis Pinkney for thier work 'Hand in Hand: Ten Black Men Who Changed America.
• The King Prize for Pictures for 2012 went to illustrator Bryan Collier (with poetry by Langston Hughes) for his work 'I, Too Am America.'
