TO HELL WITH PSYCHATRIC FACILITIES!!!

28-year-old Fedarius Shine killed his grandmother, aunt, and daughter in Detroit just before checking himself into a psychiatric facility.  Is this a miscarriage of justice?  Is it time to do away with the idea of criminal insanity?

  1. No, it is not time to do away with the idea of criminal insanity.

  2. How do you feel about the millions of black Americans in prison today suffering from 'criminal insanity'? In my humble view, if it isn't being used fairly then it should be eliminated!

  3. They should all be in hospitals instead of prisons! I agree emphatically that it should be used fairly. Also, the profession of psychiatry would benefit profoundly from more doctors-of-color.

  4. If a man is unemployed, responsible for the financial stability of a family, and abused daily for his inability to secure resources 'criminally insane' if he spontaneously robs a bank?

  5. A psychiatrist, a judge, a jury, a defense attorney, and a prosecutor would have to make that determination. He might be and he might not be. Does he have any history of mental illness, diagnosed or undiagnosed?

  6. He is the decendent of former slaves, so there is a cultural legacy of mental illness. I can agree with the judge, jury, and defense attorney. I am simply suggesting that the psychiatrist has no place in the equation unless this defense can apply to the millions of African-Americans that have the DNA of oppression.

  7. "The DNA of oppression;" a fascinating concept...

  8. If you understood the systematic slaughter of Africans brought to the United States, and the intended goals of the slave master class then the concept of African-Americans having the 'DNA of Oppression' wouldn't be so fantastical to you my brother.

  9. I didn't write "fantastical." I wrote "fascinating."
